FUTURE SHAPERS TRANSITIONS

The Ask

For this, I was tasked to design / animate an intro, outro and transitions for a 15 minute long livestream featuring various Honeywell videos focusing on sustainability.
The Process

DESIGN

First, I headed to Pinterest to secure some inspiration and ideas. I then went straight into Photoshop to develop some style frames for the client to take a look at. The timeline was pretty tight for this project, so I had to finish the design phase in one day so they could review and I could get started with animating the next day.

The first line was a pretty minimalist looking style with lots of glowy green accents / gradients. Maybe a bit too "Alien" of a feel, but I thought it was a viable option since Honeywell is very innovative and future forward.

Line two was focused on simple geometry and patterns. The idea behind this was to just keep it simple and focus more on some fun animations.

Line three I had the idea that the lines would animate and really drive the transition. Ultimately, I felt it was a bit too similar to the previous style but still left it in there for an extra option.

Style four was a 2.5D style that included shadows and lighting. The idea was that you would move through each video in a 3D space.
Heading into After Effects

The client approved style B but also tossed in the idea of including some of style D as well. I came up with the idea of using style D for the intro and outro and then we could pivot to style B. This way the whole video wouldn't require the extra time to set up 3D scenes in After Effects. Below are the animations included. I did not do the sound design.

Overall, for all the transitions, I tried to keep it simple and focus on some eye catching camera movements. Transitioning from one shape containing the footage to another. Also, the color palette changed at the end on the client's request. Luckily, since the design was so simple, it wasn't too difficult to swap it out for the final renders.

Once approved, I put everything intro premiere along with the footage and rendered out a final video. I also worked with the production company I was hired by to add in the sound design. They hired another freelancer for this.
